Facts on heavy lifting when handling machinery and tools

Operating heavy machines can cause harmful effects in the body as working positions are often awkward; the oblique and often heavy lifting can be harmful.

  • Use technical aids when transporting or positioning machinery and tools. For instance, use a mini crane on a lorry
  • Machines or parts of machines must not be lifted above shoulder height without technical aids.
  • Dismantle the machine into as many parts as possible before positioning or moving it.
  • You may need two people to position machines and/or tools.
