How to lift a mortar trough without getting a sore back
Bricklaying can place a strain on you, particularly on your back, for example, when you have to keep bending down for mortar. There are a number of small tricks that can make things easier for you – and make sure you are using the correct working position.
Here are a couple of good pieces of advice to remember:
- Raise the general bricklayer’s tub by about 20 cm so that you can adopt a better working position
- An ergonomic tub makes it easier to tip mortar from the barrow to the tub
- A small, short barrow is easier to handle than a tub. Particularly well suited to renovation tasks
