At the home company
When the company employs 10 people, a safety representative must be elected. The safety representative is elected by all employees of the company, or of the department to which you are linked. Everyone (except for apprentices) can put themselves forward, but who is elected normally depends on the rules for electing a shop steward within the agreement area in question. Tasks performed by the safety representative at the home company include:
- Taking part in the preparation of place of work assessments
- Helping to purchase machinery and personal protective equipment
- Taking part in investigations of accidents, sick leave and occupational injuries.
